DTN COMMENTS:  A light trade is being reported in the South at $182, 
fully steady with last week's weighted averages. Although some asking 
prices remain firm around $185-186. All remains quiet in the North with 
bids and asking prices still not established.

Today's slaughter totaled 125,000 head, 1,000 more than last week, and 
2,000 above a year ago. Live cattle futures closed sharply lower, off 125 
to 212, while feeder issued ended the day mostly sharply lower, off 65 to 
310. Beef cutouts are expected to close lower with moderate to good box 
movement.
